Students participating in the Middle School Virtual Academy (MSVA) will be grouped into two cohorts, A and B. Students in the A cohort will attend virtual classroom meetings on Mondays and Thursdays. Students in the B cohort will attend virtual classroom meetings on Tuesdays and Fridays. All students will have asynchronous learning experiences for classes when they are not scheduled to attend virtual class meetings. For most students, Wednesdays are reserved as an asynchronous learning day which allows teachers to plan collaboratively and to make personal contact with students who may need additional support. Students who have elected to take Geometry, Spanish or French will participate in virtual classroom meetings on Wednesdays. For weeks with only four school days, the Wednesday classes will be provided asynchronous learning opportunities.
- Students will have a Google classroom for each course in which they are enrolled. This serves as the main instructional platform. This platform may include other tools that will be used throughout the year to assist students and families with instructional activities. Each class will have a weekly agenda on Google Classroom that explains the learning goals, resources, assignments and activities for the week. Students are expected to check their Google classroom daily.
- MSVA students will engage in 30 minutes of learning time per course on their synchronous learning day, according to the students’ schedules. Students will be provided asynchronous learning experiences on days that they do not participate in virtual class meetings.
- Office hour expectations will be determined by each teacher and conveyed to students and parents. Students and parents will receive this information through Tyler and will be posted on each Google Classroom.
