Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent David Sovine has announced that
Dr. Michael Daddario has been named the new principal of Evendale Elementary School. Daddario will
succeed Elizabeth Mistretta effective July 1. Mistretta is leaving her role as Evendale’s principal to
serve as the assistant principal at Jordan Springs Elementary School.
Mistretta says, “While I’m looking forward to the professional challenges associated with
opening a new school, it is difficult to leave my Evendale Elementary School family. However, I believe
Evendale will benefit from a fresh leadership perspective and my family will benefit from my change in
roles as well.”
Daddario says, “I am excited to be a part of Frederick County Public Schools, and especially
being named principal of Evendale Elementary School. I am aware of the long-standing tradition of
excellence in education at Evendale, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that the tradition continues. I
look forward to meeting the staff and students of Evendale and connecting to the greater community.
Collaboratively, we will provide every child a world-class education, and an opportunity to achieve their
highest potential.”
Sovine says, "We are excited to have Dr. Daddario assume the role of principal at Evendale.
He has a great deal of experience as a teacher as well as an administrator at the elementary, middle
and high school levels. As a school leader, Dr. Daddario has a record of improving student
achievement, establishing a variety of supports for students, integrating technology and project-based
learning into instruction, and building strong relationships within the school community in order to best
serve students and their families. Dr. Daddario will be an excellent fit at Evendale and will certainly
build upon the success the school has enjoyed under Mrs. Mistretta’s leadership.”
Daddario has 18 years of experience as a school administrator. After teaching for five years, he
served as an assistant principal at Richmond County Elementary School in Warsaw, Virginia, for five
years. In July 2007, Daddario began working in Essex County Public Schools in Tappahannock,
Virginia. While there, he served three years as the principal of Tappahannock Elementary School and
one year as an assistant principal at Essex High School. From 2011-2013, Daddario served as an
assistant principal at Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Virginia. He then served two years as the
principal at Lancaster Middle School and has been the principal at Lancaster Primary School for the
past five years.
Daddario has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Lock Haven University of
Pennsylvania. He also has a master’s degree in administration and supervision PreK-12 and a Doctor
of Education degree in educational policy, planning and leadership from The College of William and
Mary.
